COLD OPEN (0:00-0:06)
[VISUAL]: Vanguard Awards. Forty thousand people. Sable Vox climbs to the high note β and keeps climbing, past anything her voice has ever done.
[VISUAL]: That is not Sable singing. That is the pad. On the wings monitor, Wren watches her own mouth move inside a body that isn't on the stage.
STAGE MANAGER (into headset): "We lost her. We lost her on the riser."
WREN: "Keep rolling."
SCENE 2: SETUP β The Eleven Seconds (0:06-0:30)
[VISUAL]: On the floor, Sable Vox, not moving. Above her, forty thousand people still listening β because the song hasn't stopped.
STAGE MANAGER: "It's the pad. The pad's still running."
WREN: "It runs eleven more seconds. Nobody's touching it."
STAGE MANAGER: "Somebody has to."
WREN: "Nobody has to. That's the whole design."
[VISUAL]: Asher Kade comes up beside her in the dark. He does not look at her. He looks at the monitor.
ASHER: "Wren."
WREN: "Don't."
ASHER: "Everyone in this building with ears is going toβ"
WREN: "Then everyone in this building should learn to use them."
ASHER: "Six years. And it ends on a riser."
SCENE 3: CORE CONFLICT β The Ovation (0:30-1:18)
[VISUAL]: The track dies on its own. Eleven seconds of Wren Halloway, played to forty thousand people in the dark.
[VISUAL]: Verity Lang comes down the wings stairs carrying two paper cups. She is smiling the way you smile arriving at a birthday party.
VERITY: "Sweetheart. Did you hear that? They gave her a standing ovation."
WREN: "She's on a stretcher."
VERITY: "And they stood. Do you know how long I've waited for a crowd to stand for that song?"
WREN: "It's my take."
VERITY: "It's her record, baby. Takes don't get ovations. Records do."
[VISUAL]: Ezra passes without breaking stride, writing on a yellow legal pad.
WREN: "What are you writing?"
EZRA: "Eleven seconds. Somebody always asks later."
[VISUAL]: Verity sets one cup on the monitor desk. She does not offer it.
VERITY: "We leave for Chicago in nine days. There's a job on that bus with your name shaped around it."
WREN: "Vocal coach."
VERITY: "Credit in the program. First time we've ever done it."
WREN: "That's not credit. That's a thank-you note."
VERITY (still warm): "Baby, take the thank-you note. Take the eleven seconds. Take whatever gets handed to you, and then take one thing more."
WREN: "And if I say no?"
VERITY: "Then you're home by Monday and nobody ever asks you to sing again. Which honestly might be the kinder outcome."
SCENE 4: THE HOOK (1:18-1:30)
[VISUAL]: House lights up. Forty thousand people on their feet, applauding a woman being loaded into an ambulance.
WREN (quietly): "That was mine."
[VISUAL]: When the applause finally dies out, nobody β not one person in forty thousand β looks at the wings.
SUBTITLE: "Eleven seconds of her voice. Forty thousand people standing. Not one of them asked who it was."
END CARD: "TO BE CONTINUED"
